For my VO assignment I did a story on hiking number of students on UIUC campus. I talked to some of the university officials and they told me how the enrollment process works every year.
With an improved freshmen retention rate and increased diversity University of Illinois has set a new enrollment record this Fall. Five hundred and fifteen more students have been enrolled at the university as compared to last year. The admissions office says that more international students have been accepted to increase diversity on campus.
Also for the first time more than ten percent of the student population is Hispanic, up from seven point two percent last year. Where more international students join campus, the university sees a lower percentage of in-state students. This is the second-largest freshman class in university history.
As international students now account to over twenty-one percent of overall student population, the university faces challenge to socially integrate the campus.
