“CHANGES ARE COMING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS JANUARY FIRST'
AS THE UNIVERSITY WILL BE A SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS. ”
In doing this project I learned that not only do non-smokers want the ban, but even some smokers want it. Some people don’t like the smell or invading other people’s space, but they still feel as if their rights are being infringed upon. What I find most troubling is, people can’t smoke in their personal cars where no one is being harmed except the person smoking the cigarette. The campus is taking necessary steps to ensure the health of the greater good, but in doing so they may be silencing the voices of others.
