Stress levels rise as students deal with constant pressure from piles of homework, extracurricular activities to go to, work that needs to be done and everything else school-related. As college students, there is plenty on our minds. But one thing we shouldn’t have to worry about is the negative effects stress can have on our health and well-being.
According to the HelpGuide.org, too much stress causes cognitive, physical, emotional and behavioral problems to our systems. These symptoms include poor memory and judgment, irritability, depression, frequent colds and changes in sleep and diet.
A survey conducted by The Associated Press and MTV in 2009 found that 85% of college students said they felt stressed on a daily basis, which is quite an alarming statistic. Moreover, 77% of students said they felt stressed over academic-related issues, and 74% said they stressed over grades.
Like many of these college students, my roommate and I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and bogged down by all our responsibilities and the duties we’re expected to'fulfill while in school. As a result, I decided to make a video on how to relieve your academic stress for assignment six.'A few ways to relieve your stress include reading a good book, dressing up and eating well, which help you feel better inside and out and affect your overall'mood.
Reflecting on my finished video, if I were to do the assignment over, I think I would choose to focus on a narrower topic because relieving stress has multiple solutions for different people. I also feel like I still might be struggling with sound even though I made sure to check the levels on Final Cut. But I hope I’m improving. Other than that, I had a fun time filming and bonding with my roommate, while also improving my own stress level and feeling better about school.
