What would a J215 assignment be without a hiccup or 17?

Much like the past two assignments, Assignment 4 required quite a bit of problem solving, anger management, and the warm comfort of my good friend, Mr. Jack Daniels.

With my SD card continuing to be the spawn of Satan himself, I had to resort to plan B and use my iPhone, which really wasn’t a big deal at all because the new iPhones take some very good quality videos. I even bought a mini-tripod for my phone so that the shots would be nice and still, and getting the shots proved to be no problem at all.

However, one would be naive to think that anything involved with technology would go perfectly smoothly. Although not a huge problem, when I downloaded my nice, HD videos from my phone into the computer and Adobe, the quality of the videos went from 20/20 to about 5 beers deep. I tried many different solutions, including importing the videos into image capture on the Mac, which kept the quality, but was lost once placed into Adobe.

I tried downloading the videos to HD via Facebook' Nope. Threats? Nu uh. The only other solution that was somewhat successful was downloading an Adobe Premiere app which I was able to import my videos straight from my phone onto the slideshow. The quality remained for this, but the editing options on the phone were limited compared to the desktop, so I had no other choice but to cave in and just use my so/so quality videos.

Although frustrating, I at least feel accomplished in the fact that I tried many different solutions to try and get the best quality project possible, but unfortunately it didn’t turn out quite how I wanted. I’m also proud that I didn’t punch a wall…

  1. Overall, I really liked your video. I agreed with Professor Collins about the other angle down the pool cue, which would have been cool, but I liked the other angles that you took. Despite your struggles with the camera, this turned out looking very nice. I’m actually jealous of the detail in the video quality, whereas mine didn’t translate to YouTube that way. Maybe next time for me, but nice job this time for you.

  2. Wow!!! lolol..first of all, you’re so funny….I really like your writing style. And I also think you really did a nice job…especially making sure that you GOT the STORY and completed it by DEADLINE! Yes!!! Creative and nicely done!
